City of Salem, Virginia, Communications Specialist (June '11- Current)
Developing and maintaining city internal and external websites. Ensuring a consistent look and feel across all media with design and promotion of the City in both print and electronic form. Also developing, designing and editing the Salem magazine distributed to every citizen in the City and surrounding area.

Independent Graphic Designer (Oct. '09- Current)
Designing t-shirts, banners, posters and schedule cards for Virginia Tech Athletics' Marketing & Promotion department. Coordinating NASCAR's video archive, both historical still photography and video owned by NASCAR Media Group. Also shooting, editing and producing for corporate projects for NASCAR.com and television shows airing on Versus and Speed Channel.

The Lynchburg News & Advance, Sports Copy Editor/Layout Designer (May '07 - January '08)
Designed layout for a 30,000-circulation daily sports section, including information boxes, photo captions, headlines, and story & photo placement. Also edited local sports stories and participated in daily budget meetings with news staff on stories pertaining to Central Virginia.

WDBJ7-TV, Intern (Summer 2006)
Wrote, edited and recorded local sports stories to air on WDBJ7 television in Roanoke, VA. Learned to assimilate local sports broadcasts from professionals of the highest-rated television station in the Central and Western Virginia market.

Friday Football Extra, Statistician (Fall 2005 & Fall 2006)
Maintained statistics and notes to write high school football game highlights for the highest-rated local and regional television sports show televised weekly on Friday nights for the scheduled football season.

Collegiate Times, Senior Staff writer (Fall 2003-Spring 2007)
Served as an Associate Sports Editor, Senior Staff Writer and Staff Writer in the sports department of a daily college newspaper at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VA Tech). Wrote player features, event previews and recap stories on a variety of sporting events, meeting production deadlines. Served as the “beat” writer covering the nationally ranked VA Tech Football team. Wrote editorial columns and feature articles on the nationally ranked VA Tech Basketball team. Photographed, edited and captioned shots for publication. Produced and hosted The Hokie Banter Podcast broadcasted weekly on CollegiateTimes.com. Represented the Collegiate Times at the coaching staff press conferences.

ESPN, Camera Operator (October 26, 2006)
Operated a high-definition camera during a live collegiate football game broadcast on national television. Assisted with the arrangement and setup of equipment prior to the game. Experienced, firsthand, the production of a live sports broadcast from one of the best in sports television and entertainment media.
The Roanoke Times, Intern (Summer 2005)
Wrote articles and summaries for local and regional sporting events in Central and Southwest Virginia. Covered the Salem Avalanche minor league baseball team and Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) events. Assisted with layout of the sports section of a daily statewide newspaper.
Fincastle Herald, Intern (Summer 2004)
Wrote assigned stories about people and events for a Botetourt County, VA local weekly newspaper and took photographs to accompany each story.

Served as an assistant to the host on a daily two hour radio sports broadcast. Operated the sound-board and researched supporting sports information on the internet.
